Site Details
The area between the M56 and the Manchester Ship Canal, where the Weaver enters the Mersey, consists of a series of sludge lagoons which were originally deposits from the Ship Canal. Some have been grassed over but one, known as No. 6 tank, has only in the last few years been flooded and attracts duck and waders.

Directions
Take the A56 through Frodsham and turn right into Marsh Lane at Marsh Green (on the Helsby side of the town) at SJ514777&ar=y. Follow the road over the M56 and then fork right for the Weaver Bend (parking space at SJ507788&ar=y) or fork left and after 1/4 mile turn right up a small hill for No. 6 tank, around which it is possible to drive. There is a log book with recent sightings on a telegraph pole on the left-hand side of the road leading to the Weaver Bend; please remember that farm vehicles and maintenance vehicles use these roads, which are private and unmade, so please park off the road and avoid blocking the traffic.Site Photographs
