Site Details

An area consisting of eleven flashes, a canal towpath and wooded areas. Main watched areas are Elton Hall Flash (including Salt Pan), Pumphouse Flash, Watch Lane Flash and Fodens Flash. The majority of flashes were formed due to subsidence from salt mining. It is located approx. 2 miles west of Sandbach. Five of the flashes are owned by fishing societies and the rest are owned by farmers. The Salt Pan is a good area all-year round but especially for wader passage in spring and autumn.
