Site Details
Unique shingle range, combined with former gravel/quarry diggings (that have been reclaimed by nature) to regenerate superb habitat. Home in the summer to breeding terns and gulls, visited in winter by ducks including Smew. The reserve is positioned by the English Channel, close to the Continent, and sees many passage migrants from waders to warblers, raptors and passerines.

Take the Dungeness road from Lydd. The reserve entrance is approx. 1 mile from Lydd at TR063186 on the right (west). Then follow access road through the reserve to the car park and visitor centre at TR067185.Access
Open to RSPB members and non-members.Parking
Ample parking at visitor centre.Opening Times
08.00 until dusk.Facilities
Very good hides with wheelchair access; toilets with adapted facility for the disabled; picnic area; noticeboard; 2.5-mile nature trail with wheelchair and pushchair access; binocular hire; snacks, light refreshments, gift shop, etc. at Visitor Centre, which is open from 10:00 to 17:00.Key Areas / Routes
