Site Details
The northern border of Christchurch Harbour between the confluence of the Rivers Avon and Stour and the urban area of Stanpit. Habitat is expanse of mud exposed at low tide with some reedbed and scrub in the drier areas. The reserve is under the auspices of Christchurch Borough Council and is wardened in the summer months. Recent rarities include Marsh Sandpiper, Baird's Sandpiper, Terek Sandpiper and American Golden Plover. Annual records of Osprey, Spotted Crake and Iceland Gull.

Approaching Christchurch on A35, take B3059 to Somerford. At first roundabout take first exit into Stanpit; car park is after 1/4 mile on right.Access
No restrictions, although main car park is closed a few days each year for local activities.Parking

Warden's caravan open during summer months. Information board erratically updated.Key Areas / Routes
Blackberry Point at low tide is best for waders. North Scrubs can hold interesting passerines during migration time. Map at caravan.Site Photographs
