Site Details
This stunning freshwater wetland reserve has become extremely important for breeding, feeding and roosting birds. Maer Lake consists of 22 acres of wetland grazing meadows, which lie on the northern side of Bude town, and is a short distance from the sea. Depending on rainfall, anything between two and fifteen acres can lie under water, and around two acres are covered in flag iris.

Directions
From Bude, take the road to Crooklets. Turn right opposite Crooklets Beach car park and then first left towards Maer. The reserve is on the right, a few hundred yards along this road.Access
There is strictly no access to the reserve, but it may be viewed from the road at approx SS206076.Parking
Visitors with cars should park in Crooklets Beach car park and not on the road adjacent to the reserve.Did you know that you can submit photographs to be included in this sites image gallery?
