Osprey by Tom Hines

 

 

A showy juvenile Osprey on the outskirts of Sheffield has been drawing admirers to Ecclesfield Pond in recent days – and, as this superb shot by Tom Hines illustrates, it's been giving some spectacular views as it fishes at this small waterbody.

Tom's shot is brilliantly timed, just as the Osprey takes off following a successful fishing attempt. Excellent light and a superb pose, complete with spread wings and water droplets flying off in all directions, makes for a dynamic and exciting image that Tom must be very pleased with. We must also give a special shout out to Peter Garrity, who also submitted some fantastic images of this bird (one can be seen below)!
