The September 2018 issue of Birdwatch goes on sale tomorrow and includes a Bloomsbury catalogue and Leica supplement – both free! Plus your chance to win a Leica Trinovid 8x42 binocular worth £880.

The first of our new county guides is featured this month, with the September focus on Norfolk, without doubt one of the best places to go birding at this time of year. Andy Stoddart's in-depth look at the county is sure to inspire and assist with any visit in the coming weeks.

Also in this month's issue, Mike Alibone explores the art of scanning the waves, and shares his own ups and downs of land-based seawatching. Rob Hume concludes his history of conservation series, too, and explores where the movement can go from here.

An in-depth ID guide to Ortolan Buntings can also be found in the September issue. Now is the peak time to find this increasingly scarce migrant and Keith Vinicombe's advice will help you nail the salient ID features and clue-up on the calls, the latter of which are being continuing to be revealed as an early autumn phenomenon by nocturnal sound recorders.

Furthermore, there'll be all the rarities, scarcities and finders' reports, topical comment from columnists Mark Avery and Bill Oddie, great tips for reading the weather and seeing skuas, and expert advice from our knowledgeable team.

You can buy the issue from newsagents or order online with FREE UK p&p.
