Wood Warbler by Derek Bilton
There are few better sounds in spring than that of a singing Wood Warbler; Derek Bilton has beautifully captured such a bird in full voice in perfect light with a perfect background to take this week's winning spot.
Using the car as a hide and supporting his 500mm lens on a bean bag the shot was taken at 1/800th second at f5.6 on ISO400; this is a well-exposed image showing all the feather detail, you couldn't really ask for any more in a singing portrait of any species.
Congratulations to Derek on his POTW, the 18th winner in 2016 which means over a third of the year has already gone by.
