Photo of the Week: 18-24 September 2023

Northern Fulmar by Terry Laws

In a week of gripping shots of rarities on British and Irish shores, this Northern Fulmar by Terry Laws nonetheless manages to stand out from the crowd. This image exudes atmosphere and exhibits great depth of field due to the combination of the water spray, rainbow colours and beautifully intricate markings on the rocks in the background, while the bird has been caught in a striking vertical pose as it banks. Taken at a waterfall near Keflavík, Iceland, Terry has executed a top-class photo that he can be very pleased with. Congratulations!
