A section of Broadhurst Park in Moston will enjoy new status among the City of Manchester's Local Nature Reserves.

Broadhurst Clough forms part of the Irk Valley Corridor between Moston Fairway and Boggart Hole Clough, itself a Local Nature Reserve. Dean Brook flows through a steep wooded ravine in the valley.

Broadburst Clough joins nine other sites in Manchester's Local Nature Reserve network (Sophiriel via Wikimedia Commons).

Other habitats at the new nature reserve include grassland and marsh, which is home to amphibians and several species of dragonfly.

Councillor Lee-Ann Igbon said: "I am pleased we can play our part in preserving and enhancing a cleaner, greener and healthier biodiverse city for everyone to enjoy."
