The second "Brown" Lesser Whitethroat I've seen this autumn. This bird was not as sandy brown as the one I saw on Unst, Shetland in September. A cracking bird nevertheless. Could well be of the race halimodendri. Does seem to show all the relevant features, including short primaries, very short P2, long tailed with flared tip to white outer- tail. Small fine bill slightly decurved. Overall brown-grey tones to the upperparts and buff tones to the underparts. Unfortunately I never heard the birds distinctive call.
Equipment
