For at least the last fifteen years hypocolius has been described as an uncommon winter visitor in Qatar. They are seen every winter, usually in small flocks feeding on winter-fruiting dates. Their occurrence has been spasmodic, irregular and impossible to predict. I have been chasing GH for over a year. This weekend everything changed. By chance a large roost site was located. These are the first photos from the site, taken on the morning of its discovery. Fantastic.
