In Japanese this bird is called "Hibari-shigi" which means "Skylark wader", presumably because of plumage tones/colouration. This is a different bird from the one in the other shots in this group, on a different rice paddy a couple of kilometres away. Japanese birders were commenting on the number of these birds passing through this year - normally this is an uncommon migrant.
