A bit of a long story to this shot. This is the female from a territory I have studied Goshawks at for many years. She has held the territory since 2017. In April of this year I found the remains of an adult female Goshawk that had been killed and eaten by another Raptor. I initially thought it was this resident female so I wrote off the site for any chance of breeding success this season until one day in July I came across three healthy fledged chicks! The remains were found just 50 metres or so from what was the well hidden active nest that I knew nothing about. In conclusion it must have been this resident female that had killed and eaten a rogue female that had entered the territory and got a little too close to the nest.
