Roseate Tern by Isaiah Volacek-Rowe
While on the increase across Britain and Ireland, Roseate Tern remains one of our trickiest seabirds to photograph well – particularly so early in the season, when the adults look truly pristine with their all-black bills and neat, whitish plumage. While visiting Brownsea Island in Dorset recently, Isaiah Rowe was afforded a unique opportunity to see and photograph this beautiful tern up close and personal, producing a series of wonderful images.
This shot is truly eyecatching: both the perch and soft grey background complement this stunning seabird, which has been caught in a fine pose as it carefully balances itself on a mesh fence. Congratulations to Isaiah on an excellent winner!
