Site Details

The village of Portmagee is situated at the western end of Iveragh Peninsula, with the natural breakwater of Valentia Island to the north creating a low-energy intertidal channel which holds small numbers of wildfowl, waders and gulls outside the summer months. In late summer and autumn, small numbers of Mediterranean Gulls may be found here, while Black Guillemots are resident.

Directions

The small area of intertidal mudflat just east of Portmagee is easily viewed from the R565. This should allow close and expansive views over the area.
