Site Details

The more easterly of the two natural spits on the south side of Castlemaine Harbour, Cromane offers different birding opportunities to nearby Rossbeigh. The spit, which can be driven along right to the point, overlooks extensive mudflats, and a visit to the site on the rising tide may prove particularly productive for wildfowl, waders and gulls outside the summer months. A Spoonbill has also been resident here since at least December 2005.
