Urban, in parts semi-rural, located on the western suburbs of Maidstone. Main sites of interest are the River Medway, Barming woods, the orchards, arable fields and playing field around St Margarets Church which are criss-crossed by numerous public footpaths.Birding Sites in the East Barming Area

The River Medway and playing fields are accessible by turning down South Street from the A26 (next to the Bull PH). The woods are best accessed by following North Street (opposite South Street!) off the A26 which leads to North Pole Road which cuts through Barming/Oaken Woods. A number of footpaths lead through the area.Access
