Site Details

Ouse Fen is a completely new wetland being created as part of the Hanson-RSPB Wetland Project. Sand and gravel are extracted by Hanson from their base at Needingworth Quarry. The resulting holes are then landscaped and planted with reeds and the water levels are managed to create a suite of wetland habitats. In total, a new wetland of over 700 hectares is to be created at this site, over the next 30 years.
