At junction of A624 and A6015 between Glossop, Chapel-en-le-Frith and New Mills.

Key Areas / Routes

River Sett in, above and below village for Dipper, Grey Wagtail, etc. "Bluebell Wood" (off Sett Valley Trail just west of village), Park Hall woods (Little Hayfield) and woods above Bowden Bridge for common woodland species. Sett Valley Trail good for Siskin and Redpoll. Access on foot to Kinder Scout (q.v.) for moorland specialities. Kinder Reservoir (2 miles ENE) is acidic and largely unproductive. Birch Vale Reservoir (a small reservoir 1 mile west of the village on the Sett Valley Trail) sometimes has Goosander in winter.
