Home of the Great Eastern Pingo Trail. A Norfolk Wildlife Trust site and SSSI on the brecks. Better known for its notable damselflies and dragonflies than for its birds.

Directions

Take A1075 northwards from Thetford/A41 or southwards from Dereham/A47. Reserve car park off main road just north of Stow Bedon.

Parking

Small car park at TL940965, off a layby on the A1075 just north of Stow Bedon.

Marked trails and information boards.

Key Areas / Routes

The pingos are wonderful dragonfly ponds. Walk through the mosquito-infested woods until you emerge onto a heath with swampy ponds. There are wonderful orchids and other interesting fauna.
