Site Details

A well-known Hawfinch site, and good for other woodland species such as Redstart. Dipper and Grey Wagtail possible from bridges in village. If visiting the church please show due respect to the surroundings and other visitors.

Directions

On B4234 north of Lydney. Can also reached from A4151 at Cinderford via B4226 to Speech House (another Hawfinch site); turn left, then after c. 2 miles, just after New Fancy View (Goshawk site), turn right at T-junction to reach Parkend village. Alternatively stay on B4226 at Speech House and turn left onto B4234 at Cannop.

To reach the church turn off the main road through the village (by the old railway) up a hill, then take first right (signposted to church). Alternatively from the village cross the footbridge over the old railway and walk up through the woods (200-300m).

Fairly limited parking at the church; on-street parking in the village.
