Site Details

A small mosaic of gravel pits just south of Eye village that is currently still being excavated. The older pits attract small numbers of diving duck such as Tufted Duck and Pochard in winter, while the newer excavations attract the odd wader in spring and autumn. A nearby landfill cell ensures that the site generally hosts several hundred gulls on work days, although numbers are vastly reduced at the weekend.

Directions

The Peterborough Green Wheel footpath runs through the site, and as such the pits can be accessed from Tanholt Farm to the west or from Willow Hall Lane to the east. Parking is not permitted along the Tanholt Farm approach track, although the roadside verges along Willow Hall Lane offer space to park.
