Site Details

Extensive moorland plateau (c.600m a.s.l.) with peat groughs, blanket bog, heather, coarse grasses and gritstone outcrops. Navigation (away from edge paths) can be difficult, especially in poor visibility.

Most of the plateau is owned by the National Trust. Free access at any time under Access Agreement. The main plateau is several miles walk from any paved road, and involves significant ascent.
