- View across Sherpa Marsh from Velator with RMB Chivenor in background. In the 18th/19th century it was known as Sharper Marsh and the ponds within it were the original course of the River Caen. The ponds were isolated when a "New Cut" was dug, to enable ketches and schooners easier access to Velator Quay.
