Site Details
Aston Rowant NNR lies either side of the M40 motorway where it cuts through the main Chiltern escarpment in a deep chalk cutting. The main section of the reserve is north of the motorway. Linkey Down, on the southern side, is a well-known site for Ring Ouzel in spring.Birding Sites in the Aston Rowant NNR Area

Directions
Reached from Junction 6 of M40. Follow B4009 towards Chinnor, then take A40 right (signposted Stokenchurch). Turn right at the top of the hill near a mast. The entrance to the main reserve is on the right, just before you reach the M40 bridge.For Linkey Down, cross the motorway and park in the Cowleaze Wood/Sculpture Park car park on the left-hand side of the road and walk back towards the motorway bridge; follow the bridleway that runs parallel to the left of the road and view the "combe" of Linkey Down from there. The footpath to Hill Farm skirts the site to the right.
