- The weather was dreadful....the paths were flooded....I donned my wellies and waterproofs and waded through the floods, water shin-high, to the area where this bird was. The light was atrocious and the wind was quite strong. The photo almost looks black and white as there was no colour to speak off but to me, it was worth it just to see this awesome bird.

Site Details
The reserve covers an area of over 500 acres at the mouth of the R.Hamble, including intertidal mudflats and a shoreline almost 3 miles long. Hook with Warsash Local Nature Reserve has been managed by Hampshire County Council since 1983.
