Site Details

A new location on the site of Pleasley Colliery, which closed in the 1980s. A lake has been created on top of the former tip plus several smaller ponds surrounded by open areas and very immature woodland planted c.2000. The site is bordered with scrub.

Directions

From M1 Junction 29 (Heath) take the A617 towards Mansfield. Continue through Glapwell then turn right at the large roundabout on the outskirts of Pleasley, then right again on to Pit Lane (buses from Chesterfield and Mansfield serve here). The main hide at SK494645 overlooks a lagoon.

Key Areas / Routes

Paths lead all around the site giving good views of the lake which can also be viewed from next to the hide.
