Directions

As you approach Gt Yarmouth on the A47 (from Norwich) go straight across at the first roundabout (with the A12) and at the second roundabout come back on yourself along the A47 and head to the Asda superstore (behind the railway station).
NB. A section of bank along the north side of Breydon Water upstream of the A12 Breydon Bridge is being worked on in 2013 by the Broadland Floodwater Alleviation Project. This is a popular and easy access route for people (including birders) to access both this part of the estuary and the RSPB’s Berney Marshes reserve beyond. The works are programmed to take place between April and August so the footpath will have to be closed during this period and for at least one month afterwards to allow the vegetation to re-establish.

Access

From the Asda car park head west under the A12 and follow the path along the sea wall to the first hide (good for waders, gulls and terns at high-tide) or continue to the second hide which overlooks Breydon Water.

Parking

Asda superstore (behind the railway station) allows birdwatchers to park for free. NB Car parking at Asda is now restricted to 2 hours with a fine for outstaying this time limit.
