Wistlandpound Reservoir, on the fringes of Exmoor, is owned by South West Water and was completed in 1956. It covers an area of approximately 17 hectares (40 acres) and is a popular recreation area for birdwatching, trout fishing as well as boating and nature walking. A bird hide has been built at the northern end of the lake but observers are exposed to birds on the lake, when accessing the hide! The area includes pine plantations and areas of willow scrub/carr.
