The small interpretation building/bird-hide adjoining the car park has good disabled access, as does the Tanfield Hide (c. 400m from car park). The permissive footpath to the Northern Viewing Screen (near Nosterfield village) has a short steep section (over 1 in 10). Extensive interpretation boards about reserve, birds, management and local landscape history. Please note - NO toilet or refreshment facilities.Key Areas / Routes
The Main Lake, with associated interpretation building/bird-hide is a good site to view waterfowl and waders – telescopes are recommended as views are extensive. Waders are at their best as water levels drop from seasonal highs. Walk along permissive footpath towards Nosterfield and the Northern Viewing Screen is good for passerines and for closer views of birds at North Lake. The Tanfield hide offers best light in the afternoon and evening.Site Photographs
