- What a treat to see this at a Woodland less than 5 minutes drive from where I live! A pair decided to come down to a puddle for a drink about 10 meters away from where a friend and I were standing.

Site Details
Footlands is a Forestry Enterprise wood; as such consists of various conifers but contains some of the best mature beech in the area. It lies about 2 miles south of Robertsbridge. Specialities include Nightjar, Hawfinch, Woodcock, Crossbills and winter thrush and finch flocks.

Pine copse. Due E of car park. TQ767205, best for crossbills. Birch scrub S of car park. TQ763203 for warblers and Nightjar. Beech and hemlock area of wood TQ768198, for roosting finches (including Hawfinch) and thrushes; for this site follow the main track into the wood turn right at the small pond and follow the path round until you reach the seat; the birds should fly overhead.Did you know that you can submit photographs to be included in this sites image gallery?
