Site Details
Former and existing fly ash lagoons to the east of Edinburgh between the towns of Musselburgh and Prestonpans. Grassland, woodlands, open ash lagoons, a boating pond and artificial wader scrapes. Jointly owned by East Lothian Council and Scottish Power. Good for terns, gulls, waders, seaducks and grebes.

Directions
By car from Edinburgh through Musselburgh and park at Goosegreen Road by turning left before the racecourse or to the main Levenhall Links entrance at the eastern end of Musselburgh town. Or park at Morrison's Haven and walk along the sea wall track in.Access
Access points are from the River Esk mouth at Goosegreen Road, Musselburgh; Ravensheugh Road at the end of Musselburgh; and from the car park at Morrison's Haven. Do not walk out on active ash lagoons.Parking
Free parking at the boating pond, Morrison's Haven and at Goosegreen Road.Opening Times

Three roofless, concrete and brick hides overlook the artificial wader scrape.Key Areas / Routes
The wader scrape is accessed from the boating pond car park by a tarmac path. The sea wall has a track along its length from Goosegreen Road to Morrison's Haven and in winter this is excellent for ducks including Long-tailed Duck and Velvet Scoter and other seabirds, with Slavonian Grebe being present in very good numbers. The existing ash lagoons are used as high tide roosts by waders, gulls and terns.Did you know that you can submit photographs to be included in this sites image gallery?
