Site Details
Two small mining subsidence pools, one permanent and mostly surrounded by dense vegetation, one temporary in a field grazed by horses; muddy margins good for passage waders. Privately owned farmland; view only from road and public footpath.

Buses to Backworth village; also metro train to Shiremoor (2km to southeast). Take road to West Holywell and Earsdon from village for 1/2km; park at kennels for main pool, or continue another 400m along road (bends left then right) for flash pool.Access
