Site Details
Jutting out six miles into the English Channel, Portland is ideally placed to receive incoming migrants in the spring and migrants in the autumn. Attractions also include sea-passage and a bird observatory is present at the Bill.

Directions
From Weymouth head south on the A354 towards Portland. Go through Fortuneswell and Easton to Southwell. Head south in Southwell to the Bill and the bird observatory is in the old lighthouse (SY681689&ar=y).Parking
There is a large car park by the new lighthouse (SY677685&ar=y).Facilities
The observatory is open all year and offers accommodation.Key Areas / Routes
Anywhere with habitat can produce birds under fall conditions. Favoured areas include: the observatory garden; Top Fields; any of the old quarries with habitat; Culverwell; The Verne. Seawatching can be undertaken by the obelisk at the Bill.Site Photographs
