Site Details

Suburban area south of Oxford city centre, mainly lying west of the Abingdon Road A4144. Birding interest is provided mainly by Hinksey Lake, though there are Thames tributaries and watermeadows in the vicinity.

Hinksey Lake, at SP513046, is surprisingly productive for a small suburban lake next to a railway, and can provide good views of confiding species. It is best viewed from the footbridge that carries a footpath from the end of Lake Street towards South Hinksey.
