Site Details

Angilham Marble Quarries, situated close to Galway city at the south end of Lough Corrib, offers the most advantageous point from which to view the vast numbers of wintering wildfowl that frequent the lake in winter. A calm day is essential due to the lack of elevation and distance of many birds.

Directions

If coming from the east on the N6 in Galway, take the third exit from the N6 Kirwan Roundabout (M303267). After a few hundred metres, take a right at the T-junction and continue north for 2.5km to another T-junction. Take the left then an immediate right, continuing north on this road for 2km until Lough Corrib opens up on the left. Park carefully by the side of the road to view from any open area opposite the quarry.
