Site Details

A large and spectacular lough situated in northwest Mayo that attracts small numbers of wildfowl in winter, primarily Tufted Ducks and Teal. At least one drake Ring-necked Duck has returned each winter since early 2007.

Directions

Carrowmore Lake is well signposted from the R313 west of Bangor and just west of the Munkin River at F837252. From here, a minor road hugs the entirety of the west side of the lake north to Barnatra, affording extensive views of the area.
