Site Details

An extensive area boasting a range of habitats from sandy beaches, a golf course, lakes, marsh and gardens attractive to passerine migrants. In recent autumns, the huge potential of the area to produce rare and scarce vagrants is slowly being realised, with Blue-winged Teal and a host of Nearctic shorebirds having been found.

Directions

Sruhillbeg Lough (F656046&ar=N) is a shallow lough characterised by emergent vegetation and surrounding marsh, good for wildfowl.
Keel Lough (F647054&ar=N) is a large lough, which can hold small numbers of diving duck and Whooper Swans.
Keel Golf Course has proved a hotspot for Nearctic shorebirds in recent autumns. Park at the clubhouse (F643048&ar=N) and explore the course (and adjacent beach) on foot.
