- Description
- This bird came aboard a Spanish trawler 15kms west of the Blaskets on the 25th of November. The bird was kept on board and fed chicken for a few days and was released only to be found aboard again soon after. On the 30th of November the bird was put into care in Killarney, Co. Kerry. Today, the 7th of December, the bird was released at Castlemaine harbour but had difficulty flying and tended to waddle along the ground. Because of this the bird has been taken back into care.

Site Details
A large (11x5km!) natural harbour sandwiched between the Dingle and Iveragh Peninsulas which, in winter, attracts huge numbers of wildfowl, waders and gulls. Due to its expanse and lack of access, viewing birds can be difficult unless a visit is timed with the rising tide.
