Site Details
See Gwent Levels for habitat etc. This reserve has a series of raised walkways through marsh, reedbeds and a large pool with hide. It is owned by the Gwent Wildlife Trust. It is well worth a visit at any time of year. In winter good numbers of wildfowl on the pond. Summer provides nesting habitat for various warblers. The reens are alive with insect life. Dragonflies include Ruddy Darter and Hairy Dragonfly. There are also many commoner species. These in turn attract in the odd Hobby. Water Rail and Kingfisher are often seen. A nice site to visit when in the Goldcliff area.
