Site Details

A freshwater loch with a range of surrounding habitats including emergent vegetation, birch and alder carr, and areas of acidic, marshy grassland and plantation woodland. The site supports notable assemblages of breeding and wintering birds, nationally-scarce plants and uncommon invertebrates. The main conservation interest of the loch is that it regularly supports internationally important numbers of wintering Pink-footed Geese.
