Directions
Lying in the Peak District about 12 miles from the centre of Sheffield, this scenic valley contains the Howden, Derwent and Ladybower Reservoirs. The valley sides are heavily forested, with moorland on the slopes above. Vehicular access is from the western end of Ashopton Viaduct, from where a road runs north up the entire length of the reservoirs along their western sides. A visitor centre is situated at Fairholmes at the north end of Ladybower Reservoir. The road is closed beyond this point at busier times of the year, but there is a bus service which operates beyond. Buses also regularly run as far as Fairholmes from Sheffield Bus Station. The eastern side of the valley is also accessible on foot.Site Photographs
