Site Details
Part of the Dearne Valley complex - see also Houghton Washlands, Broomhill Flash, Wombwell Ings, Old Moor RSPB (Wath Ings), Wath Manvers Lake, Bolton upon Dearne.
Privately owned marshland (local farmer and RJB Mining), a legacy of the coal industry. Two unregulated shallow ponds providing reedbeds, mudflats and boggy pasture. There are several copses providing shrub and tree habitat. The site has the River Dearne on its southwest perimeter.
Note that some sightings listed under this site before 23/04/08 may have come from nearby Houghton Washlands.

Viewing layby is midway between Grimethorpe and Middlecliffe on the A6195.Access
Access allowed to permit holders only. Viewing across the site is from layby on A6195 or disused railway banking.Parking
