Site Details
A site newly created in 2012 by the RSPB, leased from the Environment Agency, Adwick forms part of the chain of managed wetland sites that follow the River Dearne and include Old Moor, Broomhill Flash, Wombwell Ings and Edderthorpe Flash. The area was arable land and has had a number of scrapes, flashes and pools added with a significant area of fen in the centre. The main habitats will be lowland wet grassland, open fen, dry grassland/hay meadow, areas of scrub/hedgerow, open water and planted cover crop for farmland birds.

Directions
Between the villages of Bolton upon Dearne and Adwick upon Dearne, several miles southeast of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. Access is from the car park at the eastern end of the site at Adwick Bridge (just north of Adwick upon Dearne village).Park here and walk either along the river bank or head north along the Trans-Pennine Trail and turn left onto the bridleway that runs through the centre of the site.

Car park for around 25 cars at Adwick Bridge.Facilities
None - but café, toilets and visitor centre available a couple of miles away at RSPB Old Moor.Key Areas / Routes
A drystone-wall-lined viewing mound has been created in the centre of the site that provides views of all the key habitats and pools.Did you know that you can submit photographs to be included in this sites image gallery?
