Site Details

Mainly noted for a series of flooded gravel pits surrounding the village of Dorchester near the confluence of the Rivers Thame and Thames. The principal pits are as follows:

Queenford Pit: SU577955 - view from A4074 Dorchester bypass
Drayton Road Pit: SU582952 - view from Drayton Road, accessible from Drayton St. Leonard road behind Queenford Pit, or on foot from Dorchester bypass
Orchard Lake: SU572952 - limited viewing from road from Burcot into Dorchester village
John Allen Pit: SU575945 - distant viewing from Dyke Hills footpath at approx. SU572938
Cemetery Pit: SU579949 - view from Drayton Road in Dorchester village
