Site Details
An area of about 100 hectares (200 acres) of rough grassland, three main lagoons, 2 sets of smaller lagoons surrounded by mixed woodland and agricultural land. To the northern edge there is a small reedbed.

Directions
From the south (Nottingham area), take the A611 towards Mansfield. At the end of the Hucknall Bypass turn left at the roundabout. Continue on dual carraigeway for about 3/4 mile. Take first right, signposted Newstead; after about 1 mile pass old cemetery on your right, then new cemetery on your left. On entering the village take 2nd right - Tilford Road (by bus stop on triangle). Continue along Tilford Road, over level crossing. Go straight ahead towards factory gates turning left just prior to the factory into car park.From the north (Mansfield) take the A611, turning left towards Annesley and Newstead. Follow this road until you come to the bus stop triangle. Turn left and immediately left again onto Tilford Road and follow the directions as above.
MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE NO VALUABLES IN SIGHT. From the car park above there is a gate/stile in the left-hand corner (looking with your back to the car park entrance). Take the path until you come to a junction on the right (by the totem pole). Turn here to the left-hand bend in the path. From here go diagonally towards a hole in the fence, through the fence then follow the paths. The main lagoons are at the top of the hill.
Facilities
No toilet facilities. Shop/post office on Tilford Road in Village. Pub in village opposite railway station (Robin Hood Line) on Station Road.Did you know that you can submit photographs to be included in this sites image gallery?
