Directions

Take the A45 (Weedon Road) west from Northampton town centre. Turn left onto Sixfields Stadium at the ring road, go past the stadium and down onto Sixfields Lake car park. Walk back over the road bridge and then east along the river for about a third of a mile and view the Phragmites Pit.
Alternatively, the new St James Relief Road, between Sixfields Stadium and the St James Mill Road and Ross Road industrial estates passes along the north and eastern edges of the reedbed.
