Site Details

In the Forest of Bowland southeast of Stocks Reservoir. Habitats include blanket bog, heather moor and unimproved grassland. Breeding waders, passage wader and Short-eared Owl are regular.

No public transport. Turn off the B6478 Slaidburn to Tosside road at either Field Head or Stephen Moor.


Via unclassified roads, one along S edge, one along northwest edge plus a number of footpaths centred on Champion Farm.


Narrow roads: pull onto verge where there is room.

Key Areas / Routes

Flood pool at SD749522 seen from Tinklers Lane along S edge of moor is very attractive to passage waders, particularly when no mud is exposed at nearby Stocks Reservoir.
