Regarded as one of Durham Wildlife Trust's premier reserves, this 50 hectare wetland site also contains mixed woodlands and grasslands.

Opening Times

Reserve: Open at all times. Visitor Centre: 1st April to 31st October open daily 10am - 4.30pm; 1st November to 31st March open weekends only 10am - 4.30pm or by prior appointment.


Visitor Centre with interpretative display of local flora and fauna. 1½ miles (2.5km) of nature trail with observatory and hides. Car parking, toilet facilities and light refreshments. Wheelchair access to site, including pond dipping platform and two observation hides, and Visitor Centre. WC.
